What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable gels, most commonly made from hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally present in the body, used to restore lost volume, smooth deep folds, and enhance facial contours. Unlike anti-wrinkle injections, which relax muscles, fillers physically add structure and support.
As we age, we lose volume in the cheeks, temples and around the mouth, and the skin loses its elasticity. Fillers can address this directly, restoring a naturally youthful appearance without looking overdone.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long do dermal fillers last?
This depends on the product used and the area treated. Most hyaluronic acid fillers last 9–18 months. Fillers in areas with more movement (like lips) tend to last less long than those in areas with less movement (like the cheeks).
Does it hurt?
Most filler products contain lidocaine (a local anaesthetic), which makes the treatment more comfortable after the initial injection. Topical numbing cream can also be applied beforehand.
Is it reversible?
Yes, hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase if needed. This is one of the reasons we prefer HA-based products for most treatments.
What's the downtime?
There is usually some swelling and possibly mild bruising immediately afterwards, which subsides within a few days. Most patients return to normal activities immediately.
What's the difference between fillers and anti-wrinkle injections?
Anti-wrinkle injections relax muscles to smooth expression lines. Fillers add volume and structure, ideal for deeper lines, hollows and contour enhancement. They are often used together for a comprehensive result.
